Riverside Studio offers relaxing painting holiday courses on the beautiful Island of Anglesey. The Island boasts an unspoilt and varied coastline, from long sandy beaches to rugged - dramatic cliffs, extensive marshlands and river estuaries. Inland areas have lakes, forests, picturesque cottages, winding lanes and endless open fields with views across to The Snowdonia Mountains. The Teaching Studio is situated on the edge of the coastal village of Malltraeth on the south-western side of the island. There are extensive views from the village across the river estuary and wetland marshes towards Newborough Forest and the distant mountain ranges. The marshland and nature reserves that are within walking distance are abundant in wildfowl and shoreland birds. (Wildlife Artist Charles Tunnicliffe lived in the village where he painted the birds in their environment.
The small and friendly village has a general store & chip shop and two village pubs - one of them serves food.
Riverside studio provides a light ,well lit, spacious area to work in with views across to Snowdon. During the Painting Holidays the emphasis is to get out on location, sketching and painting the surrounding varied landscapes and seascapes. On the spot demonstrations will be ongoing throughout the course, both on location and in the studio. One to One tuition from a sympathetic and patient tutor will be given catering to individual needs. If the weather is not kind painting will be done in the studio and a variety of subjects and techniques will be covered – demonstrations, discussions and lectures will be given as appropriate. This is an opportunity for watercolour painters to develop skills working outside in a wide variety of painting locations whilst enjoying the company of like-minded people.

A variety of media and subjects will be focused on during these courses enabling you to practice skills and techniques in a specialised subject. Subjects include- Drawing & Watercolours for Beginners, Creative Collage, Painting the Weather, Autumn Landscapes, Buildings in Pen and Wash, Coastlines & Snow Scenes in Oils & Acrylics, Creating Natures Textures, Dynamic Flowers and Landscapes in watercolour and inks Dependent on the subject matter and the weather we will work in the studio or out on location.
